Excellent Bed and Breakfast, spotlessly clean and comfortable
We stayed at Briarfields for 2 nights at the weekend in August. We had a very comfortable stay, room was spotless and very comfortable. Home made shortbread in the room (very nice), along with fresh milk and bottled water in the fridge. Good location, a short walk from the sea front, free parking on site. Great hosts, very helpful and friendly, would definitely stay again.

Great stay!
Excellent food, clean and very comfortable room with perfect location for easyaccess to train station, Torre Abbey and other local sights. I felt well looked after by Charlie and Julie Ann with many personal touches from them both without intrusion. I've been coming to Torquay for over 20 years and I can say, hand on heart, that this was by far the best accommodation I've experienced. I will be booking into the Briarfields for my annual visit next year!

Fabulous
Our second stay this year, but just as fabulous as the first time. It's so clean and quiet, rooms are great. Charlie and Julie-Ann are brilliant, and the breakfasts are super. I think I've said it all!

The Briarfields torquay
Very pleasurable stay. Our room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and modern, everythingyou would expect and more, including a small fridge and air conditioning. Homemade biscuits, bottles of water and milk, was a lovely touch. The breakfast was delicious, we tried most of the menu, all excellent. Our hosts were very nice, would definitely recommend a stay here

First class guest house, lovely owners can’t do enough for you.Always there to help if needed.Room was 5 star absolutely spotless, lots of little touches milk and water in fridge, home made shortbread.Breakfast was excellent you will never be hungry while staying there.Just wished we had booked for longer rather than staying for a couple of days. Most enjoyable stay and will definitely be going back.It’s a pity we can’t give it more than 5 stars.

What a really lovely place. Great room, very smart, fantastic breakfasts with good choices to make in advance so served very hot and fresh, little touches homemade shortbread in room and sweet treat at end of breakfast. Would stay again thank you Charlie and Julie-Anne.

Had a fantastic weekend the hotel was loverly and Charlie and Julie Ann was fantastic hosts the breakfast was just perfect we walked to the beach so that was good homemade biscuits and tea coffee when we arrived loverly place as no children so that was so special as I have young children living with us the towel was beautiful and the hand soap was loverly I could go on and on it was just perfect for us and if we go to Torquay again we would not want to go anywhere else

Wonderful place to stay
I was driving 250 miles in an EV to get to Torquay, and wanted a place with a charger. I contacted Briarfields before arriving and asked to book it for my trip, and was pleased to arrive and find it waiting for me. Which made a great first impression.We were greeted by Charlie and given a quick welcome tour, then we went up to our room and discovered a beautifully decorated, spacious room and bathroom. Very comfortable room and bed.The property is a very easy walk to the seafront, complete with fair, big wheel, restaurants, bars, etc. Charlie gave us clear directions, and we were walking the front in no time.Breakfast was lovely every morning. You make your choice the night before, pick a time, and then it's ready in no time when you get downstairs in the morning. So much easier than having to wait for your choice to be cooked after you order it.Charlie and Julie were really nice and friendly. We had a good chat one morning, and they were always available and willing to help if needed.We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and will definitely return.

Exceptional
This was our first experience staying within a B&B and it exceeded our expectations. The room was clean, comfortable and we were greeted with such kindness and Charlie was very accommodating on our arrival. The breakfast was delicious and both Charlie and Julie went out of their way to ensure that they catered for our specific dietary requirements. We both really appreciated it and this made our stay in Torquay even more memorable. Location was perfect and we would definitely recommend this B&B to family and friends.

Mini Break
We stayed for 4 nights and had a lovely time. Everything was clean and comfortable and there were lots of extra little touches like making sure we had fresh milk and water in our room everyday and homemade shortbread. The food was excellent too. Lovely couple. Will definitely come back.

Fantastic B&B !
We spent 7 nights in Torquay staying at Briarfields. Julie-Anne and Charlie are lovely hosts and made us both feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts are amazing , great food and lots to choose from. Comfy bed and huge bath towels. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks Charlie and Julie-Anne for a great break.

Amazing 5 star B&B
Briarfields is a wonderful place to stay, the owners are a lovely couple who can’t do enough for you.The B&B is spotlessly clean, our room was a large room with a Separate lounge area including a second tv & mini fridge. The homemade shortbread & bottles of water were a lovely touch.There is an excellent breakfast menu to choose from and the food served is of the highest standard, and definitely plenty of it!!We would highly recommend Briarfields to anyone you will not be disappointed.

Briarfields experience
It was an cosy experience to stay at the Briarfields for 2 nights on a stop-over travelling in Cornwall & Devon.The room was very clean with a side lounge for relaxation. Breakfast, prepared to order, was excellent. Certainly our host/hostess are extremely friendly and provided guidance on our questions.

The Briarfields is an exceptional small hotel.The host are welcoming and generous, catered for my mum’s needs providing almond milk.Made our stay (myself and parents) very special.The rooms are beautiful, spotlessly clean, and comfortable.Delicious breakfasts which will leave you full to the brim.Lovely touches such as the homemade shortbread and complimentary teas.A great location, being a short walk to the sea front and a 5 min drive to Torquay station which was handy as we travelled by train.A wonderful stay.

A 3 Night Visit
We would recommend the Briarfield based on our recent stay. The location is easy to find with adequate parking. The house is meticulously kept. Our room was very nice and the beds comfortable. Charlie who carried the bags is also the chef, we both enjoyed the food. We found Charlie and Julie both friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again if we were visiting the Torquay area.

Outstanding!
Charlie and Julie are absolutely charming and have this wonderful BnB well in hand. There is nothing missing in the environment, accommodations or food. The Briarfields is the only place we will stay when we come back to the Torquay area. We look forward to visiting again!

Lovely B&B
We've enjoyed our stay at the Briarfields with Julie-Anne and Charly very much. Rom was spacious and clean. Charly is a former chef and takes great price in serving his guests a lovely breakfast wit Juli-Anne taking care of guests and making toast. We most certainly recommend the Briarfields and would love to come back in the future.

The two people that own and run this place,are probably the two nicest folk I've met in a long time,the place was spotless,and the small detailsyou find are subtle,and there everywhere, the breakfast is amazingly filling,and if that's not enough,Charlieor Julie-Anne,,return with more toast and then home made pastries(mouth watering now),to top this review,couldn't be better,shame Charlie supports Rangers.But that's not held against him,oh and there always brilliant conversation with the other guests

Lonely stay at the Briarfields
We had a lovely long weekend stay at the Briarfields.Charlie and Julie-Anne are super friendly and made us feel at home during our stay. They provided a wonderful breakfast with some of the best selection of anywhere I’ve stayed!The rooms are clean and homely and made for a really pleasant stay. Stayed 6 nights excellent holiday - large room was perfect and very comfortable -although on busy road no noise at all due to triple glazing with air con available if required. Breakfast was excellent with good choice and anything we wanted was provided by the hosts. Electric car charging point added bonus. Would be very happy to stay again

Outstanding.
Arrived at The Briarfeilds on 10 July 2023.We were given a very warm, friendly greeting from Charlie,whom then proceeded to assist us with our luggage up to our room. He informed us that he had upgraded our room at no extra cost. Our room was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. We had a mini fridge which was re stocked every day with milk and bottled water. The tea and coffee making items were also re stocked as well while the room was cleaned daily. The breakfast menu has plenty of choices whatever your tastes are. Charlie was also prepared to make something not on the menu for my partners dietary needs. The breakfasts are simply delicious which ever option you choose. Overall Charlie and Julie-Anne are fantastic hosts who are warm and friendly and happy to do anything to make sure you're stay is comfortable. We look forward to another stay.

Fantastic weekend
Book the briarfields for 3 days...I cansay I've stayed many places but this place is amongst the best I've ever stayed...Charlie and Julie Ann are the nicest people you could ever meet and very accomdating,the rooms were spacious and immaculately clean with nice little extras in the room abd the breakfast is to die for....I would recommend anyone to stay here and you won't be disssappointed cannot wait to book to go back in the future

Beautiful Vacation Spot
Charlie and Julie-Anne are warm, welcoming and very friendly people, the breakfast is out of this world as Charlie is an excellent chef with years of experience. Our room was designed beautifully with air conditioning and a huge en-suite bathroom. The fridge in the room is a welcoming touch, cold water in the morning is refreshing. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Torquay. It’s only 15 minutes walk to the center but it’s so peaceful and perfectly positioned to visit everything. Immaculate decor and a warm welcome with luggage assistance too. Great choices for breakfast, a good experience. Stayed as part of our 50th wedding anniversary trip and Charlie and Julie-Anne made it memorable in many ways. For us it was a great base to explore from and comfortable. First of all, Charlie and Julie-Ann are the penultimate hosts. When you think about a perfect B&B, you think about personally meeting friendly hosts who really care about you as a guest. Well, that’s Charlie and Julie-Ann. Second, you want everything to be high quality- clean, quality-products, and delicious breakfast. We can tell you that Briarfields is probably cleaner than you own place (that says a lot). The qualify products are everything including the bath products or the jams on the breakfast table. And, you wouldn’t find a better breakfast than Charlie’s. Seriously, I wouldn’t change a thing here, it’s that perfect.

We had such an amazing stay at the Briarfields. Charlie and Julie-Anne couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms were lovely with super comfy beds and the breakfasts were YUMMY! You wouldn’t get a better breakfast elsewhere! They kindly offered us an upgrade knowing I’m quite heavily pregnant which was a lovely touch. We will definitely return! :) Thanks again!

Comfortable 5* B & B
Briarfields is a very comfortable 5* B & B just 15 minutes walk from Torquay’s sea front. Charlie and Julie-Anne were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for their guests. My Executive Suite had a very useful separate sitting room, whilst the bedroom came with dressing gown and slippers. The breakfast menu offered a very wide choice, all cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. I will definitely stay here again when next in Torquay.

We were met at the front door by a lovely Smiling Julie-Anne, great start to our break!One of the first things we noticed was how clean the hotel was and very tastefully decorated throughout. It was also great to find the fridge in our very comfortable room actually worked properly, unlike lots of other hotels we've stayed in!!Our breakfasts, with lots of choice to choose from was cooked by chef Charlie and very tasty they were too!!They were very attentive and flexible, an outstanding experience was had and we highly recommend this hotel

Perfect stay
Charlie and Julie Anne are perfect hosts, warm and friendly. The rooms were well equiped and spotlessly clean. Beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast had good choice and well cooked. We normally stay in the Premier Inn down the road when visitingfamily in Paignton. We won't now and will stay at Briarfields in future.

Charlie and Julie the owners really go above and beyond to ensure that your every need is taken care of. They are proactive in the sense that they anticipate your needs before you even have to ask. As for the quality of the breakfast,thumbs up and definitely worth a return visit.

Lovely little hotel
I stayed here in April 2023 after a couple of bad experiences with other Torquay hotels. I have now have changed my mind and would be so happy happy to stay in this hotel again.The room was very spacious and really clean. Had loads of quirky bits and designs to look at around the hotel that really made me happy to stay. (A lot of effort made to keep guests happy)Lastly the staff where really friendly and the breakfast was cooked perfectly.Thank you

Fabulous breakfast
We had one night at Briarfields while visiting the Princess Theatre for a concert and we were so pleased with our choice . The place is spotless clean , very comfy rooms and the owners are helpful and friendly . Big thanks though for breakfast! Great to see choices which you don't normally see on a breakfast menu , I had the corned beef hash with a poached egg and it was fantastic , my husband had huevos rancheros a Spanish breakfast fish ...utterly delicious . Would highly recommend this place and we would love to come back.

Perfect!!!
Superb accommodation with car parking and a short level stroll to the harbour and marina through the grounds of Torre Abbey. Our room and en-suite were spotlessly clean with beautiful decor which had all been planned excellently. The hosts Charlie and Julie were the best, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Charlie a trained a chef cooked gorgeous breakfasts from a comprehensive list of options which included many vegetarian options!!!We had a lovely three night night stay, so wished it could have been longer

This was my 2nd time at Briarfields and without doubt it is the best Place I have ever stayed and that includes 4 and 5 star Hotels . The Rooms have every thing you could wish for . the Breakfast is outstanding anything you desire at breakfast time cooked freshly by Charlie who used to be a chef in hotels in Scotland .Fresh Fruit platters little pastriesjuices cereals. Julie Anne and Charlie are wonderful hosts . If I were looking to stay again in Torquay I would not look anyone where else. You will not regret staying here .Paul and Sue B

The Briarfield's is a very lovely warm welcoming place, wonderful hosts, spacious and beautifully clean rooms, AMAZING breakfasts( i don't think anyone could beat them), nothing was too much trouble for the hosts Charlie & Julie-Anne, really impressed with the way were looked after, cant wait to go back again.

Just perfect!
We had a perfect 3 night stay and were very happy with our choice. Great location within a short walk of the marina and we got a taxi back after dinner. A perfect base for exploring this area of Devon by car. The rooms are immaculate with everything you could need and lovely little touches like biscuits and gorgeous toiletries, shower powerful and a good size, breakfast choices that we tried were all spot on and beautifully cooked. Julie-Anne and Charlie are perfect hosts and we will definitely stay again. Highly recommended, no need to try anywhere else.

This was a wonderful 2 night break in March 2023.Charlie & Julie-Ann were really friendly and helpful even providing us with a top notch vegan breakfast. Lovely bright, contemporary room which was spotlessly clean. The location was only a few minutes walk from the Abbey and only 10 minutes from the seafront.We loved the adult only vibePerfect mini break

We had a lovely 2 night stay.Usually I don’t sleep that well while I’m away but bed was so comfortable I slept really well.Everything was perfect, couldn’t fault a thing.The extra touches like fresh milk made a big difference and the dressing gowns were a lovely touch.Everything was spotless.Breakfast was 5 star, tasty, hot, fresh and plenty of it, the sweet treats were a lovely touch.Will stay again when next in Torquay, highly recommended. Brilliant Stay
Wonderful stay. The room was lovely with great little touches everywhere. (And loved the shower!!) Charlie and Julie-Ann are really lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Lots of little unique great things make the place really stand out. Breakfast is amazing and cannot be beaten. Book here and you won't regret it! Me and the friend I stayed with were super impressed!!

The host/hostess and B&B itself were equally as impressive as each other. We were greeted very friendly as soon as we arrived and was instantly made to feel comfortable.The breakfast was fantastic quality, there is also a really good selection on offer. The room exceeded expectations, was incredibly clean and really did feel like a home away from home. Weekend break
We had a wonderful stay at youre B&b, nothing was too much trouble, our room was very comfortable, to to have a welcoming clean fresh room, comfy bed, tea making facilities and a nice little bottle of fresh milk plus some water, the shower was great and the towels were fluffy, very nice toiletries, and the breakfast was 10out of 10, very Prompt service and Charlie and julie were very welcoming and friendly, would recommend this hotel any day.

Superb place to stay.
When we arrived we were greeted by Charlie, who both made us feel very welcome and showed us where our room and the breakfast room was. Charlie was happy to assist us with his local knowledge of the area as required.Breakfast.Breakfast is pre-ordered, the day before. This system works very well as the breakfast is fresh cooked and superb, plus the tea/coffee is fresh and additional drinks or toast are offered if required. Fresh fruit juice, cereals and fruit were also available, but after the cooked breakfast we both declined these.Our room.This was larger than many we have stayed in, spotlessly clean well presented and included a fridge with Fresh milk for tea or coffee in the room. The en-suite bathroom was also larger than average and included a good size shower with plenty of hot water at a good pressure. Supplies were checked and restocked daily as required. In the room was a smart TV so a wide selection of information or entertainment was available if you want it. The Free WiFi works very well, I didn't actually check the speed available but when streaming a movie on the TV and using other devices at the same time there was no buffering.The car parking is a bit tight, but well organised. I would recommend reversing in as reversing out onto quite a busy road might be easy at peak traffic times.The bottom line, would we stay here again?Definitely.

Very well thought out provision of facilities.Everything I needed was there and in the right place. Excellent shower. Good reading lights over the bed, and even 2 TV's in the room (Room 4) one in the bedroom and another in the sitting area. Plenty of drawers and hanging space - even enough hangars (which is rare).Hosts very considerate and helpful.Happy to recommend this lovely B & B.

Nice Place to be.
These Pictures show exactly the hotel which is a small warm and cosy Bed and breakfast Hotel. The couple that runs this hotel is very nice and great hosts, The menue for the breakfast is excellent and all dishes are freshly prepared. I had the scotish breakfast with black pudding which was very tasty and it was more then I would finish. The room I had is comportable and had Coffee Tea and some cookies and you were given freskh milk on request for the night drink. All in all highly recommanded.

Our 4 night stay Briarfields
The owners were very welcoming and went out of their way to be always helpful and attentive.The great breakfasts were served in a delightful dining room and the bedroom was very comfortable helping us to relax. The shower facility was also excellent with luxury bathroom accessories.Overall our stay was brilliant.

We were greeted by Charlie, who asked us how our journey was and helped us with our bags like coming home to family. Our room was ready and it was beautiful, so cleandecor beautiful and nice touches like homemade shortbread and milk in thr fridge. Throughout our stay Charlie and Julie-Ann were helpful and informative about where to visit and eat. Breakfast was outstanding, my partner had the cornebeef hash and egg on the second day he said he had never had such lovely flavourful cornbeef hash in his life. The Briarfields is spotless.Julie-Anne was very welcoming from the first phone call and she and Charlie run the place to a very high standard.Our room (the Executive Suite) was delightful - the separate sitting-room area and the superkingsize bed were what made me book it.Breakfast was gorgeous - and they will cater even for fussy eaters!My only (tiny) criticism is that I wish the breakfast slot was longer (it's 8 - 9.15).On our first morning there, we had had a busy few days and a late night and really needed to rest and have a lovely long lie-in but we couldn't really. Otherwise everything was ace.

It has been some years since we last visited Torquay and we booked at Briarfields after looking on trip advisor . We had a lovely stay with Charlie and Julie-anne , enjoying first class breakfasts , nice comfortable room and charming hosts. We had a very enjoyable stay in a junior suite at Briarfields. Our roomwith en-suite was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space and light. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and very well cooked. We normally stay in a hotel but this B & B had everything we wanted and we will definitely stay there again. My partner and I visited this amazing B&B for a weekend getaway to Torquay, and I couldn’t recommend it enough! The hosts were incredibly kind and accommodating to our late arrival and my diabetic dietary requirements. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic, we were looking forward to it the following morning! The room was very sweet, clean, and had everything you need. Would absolutely come back again and will be recommending this to all my friends and family!!

This was our first time of staying at the Briarfields, and it must be said that our 2 night stay exceeded our expectations.Julie-Anne and Charlie are great hosts, friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic stay at Briarfields B&B. Could not fault a single thing. The room was lovely and spacious, excellent bed - and aircon! Bathroom was spotless and the room had every amenity you could want, the owners really have thought of every tiny detail. Great stay that met all our expectations
Excellent room, breakfast and service from the delightful owners. Having an electric car charger made the choice perfect for us as we had to spend zero time "filling up" the car. Attention to detail was outstanding e.g. we had a bottle of champagne in the fridge and two flutes "magically" appeared in the room.

We turned up slightly later than our scheduled arrival time but were still welcomed warmly by Julie-Anne. Great breakfasts and well organised timings, Charlie and Julie-Anne were excellent hosts and have put a lot of time, effort and money into making this a gold standard stay. The EV charger was a bonus. Executive suite was superb. With plenty of storage, air con and an extremely comfortable bed. Plenty of parking and decent pubs and restaurants nearby. (Thoroughly recommend the Drum Inn despite its challenging access and "pay for parking" the food was worth it.)

The best place we have stayed.
As two teachers, it is really essential to re-charge over the summer and make happy memories. We were able to do both, the only bad thing is we didn't book for longer.Everything was superb, the room itself had everything you need and was spotless! The food was the best we have had anywhere we have stayed. Including variety for all needs and service which was simply impeccable.The simply superb hosts were on hand if needed and made us feel welcomed and yet free too. We knew we could ask for anything but equally felt we had the space to just enjoy ourselves. With private parking and key access it makes this place a real must for those looking for a 5 star experience.Absolutely utterly amazing!

Anniversary stay
Lovely comfortable spotlessly clean room,including a fridge fresh milk and biscuits. Hosts attention to detail top notch,it was our ruby wedding and there was a card left for us in the room upon arrival. Theres the added bonus of an air-conditioning in the room. Breakfast was excellent, fresh fruit was gorgeous and a great choice of cooked breakfasts (they're omelette are amazing) would recommend yo anyone.

Such a spacious room
We stayed for 3 nights at the briarfields during the queens platinum jubilee. We were welcomed by Charlie who showed us to the executive suite with a bottle of Prosecco as we were just married. Wow….the room was fantastic and very spacious. There was a big menu for breakfast and it lived up to expectations!!Charlie and Julie-Anne were great hosts!!

A fantastic B&B with lovely hosts. Room was extremely comfortable with everything you need. The homemade shortbread was a lovely touch and very yummy. You have a great selection for breakfast with some unusual items... My partner tried most and I stuck to the excellent vegetarian cooked breakfast. Made to feel very welcome and will be booking again.

Arrived early with a very warm welcome from Julie Ann and room ready. Stayed in Suite 7 which was superb, very comfortable and spacious. Everything you needed was provided. Breakfast was excellent,varied menu to order pre order catering for everyone's needs. Excellent location, easy 10 minutes stroll to the beach front. Our accommodation was contemporary, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lots of hanging and drawer space for our needs with in-room fridge stocked with real milk (so much nicer than minute UHT cartons) and bottled water. Smart TV, desk & stool, two tub chairs and comfy bed complete the furnishings for the junior suite. The bathroom- also spotless - has an amazing shower, toiletries supplied and beautiful fluffy towels. Then there’s the breakfast, great choice,beautifully cooked and presented. There are many B&Bs in Torquay to choose from but because Charlie & Julie-Anne go the extra mile they make The Briarfields EXCELLENT! And there’s on site parking!

Charlie and Julie-Anne were attentive but not fussy and even helped in our quest to fined a venue for an upcoming event. All round a great choice. Our room was fantastic - comfortable bed, spotless, modern and lots of thoughtful touches. Excellent breakfast menu, a wide choice and expertly cooked. Amazing
We stayed at Briarfields from 15-17/10/21. From first arriving to going up to our room the whole place is spotless. We where greeted by Charlie who showed where breakfast would be served, and asked if we needed a hand with luggage. The room was immaculate and exactly as described. With tea and coffee and fresh milk in the fridge. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped for our stay. The breakfast the next morning was fantastic, and the Stornaway Black Pudding was delicious. Nothing seemed to be to much trouble for Charlie or Julie-Anne.Very easy to get out and about and nice and peaceful during the evening. We will definitely return in the future.

We stayed here in September 2021 for 3 nights and we could not fault any aspect of it.The room was lovely, spacious & very clean. Bathroom facilities were on point. Nothing missed out and shower unit simple to use. The light on the mirror was a good touch for both of us.The owners Charlie & Julie-Ann were so welcoming, very friendly and knowledgeable of the local sites and potential eateries.The breakfast was amazing, with several choices that I can confirm were cooked to perfection.Would definitely recommend this B&B, we loved our stay here & would definitely stay here again.

Lovely Stay
Just had a two night stay at the Briarfields in their executive suite and what a lovely room it was very clean and super comfortable bed with good bedding. Breakfast very tasty especially liked the corn beef hash cake. Nice touches after the breakfast on day one a fresh Danish pastry yummy and just as yummy on day two a strawberry, raspberry and banana smoothie. Last but not least a lovely couple thank you.

Like a Boutique Hotel
Firstly I would like to thank Charlie and Julie for welcoming us when we arrived. We were shown to our room, which was bigger than we expected. For a bed and breakfast I would compare the rooms to a boutique hotel. Everything was in the room that you could want. The rooms were very clean to a high standard. I loved the wee bottle of fresh milk that was in our fridge. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and we tried something different every day as there was a great choice. Location was great as only a 10 minute walk to the beach. We would definitely go back to Torquay and stay at the Briarfields. Highly recommend Briarfields. You won't be dissapointed. Thank you again Charlie and Julie for making our first stay in Torquay a memorable one. Looking forward to visiting again.

Charlie and Julie were excellent hosts. Our room was bright, very clean, and offered a lot of attention to detail. Tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh milk daily was a nice touch, along with bottled water. The ensuite was a good size and very modern.Breakfast was the best choice that we've had on our travels and was cooked perfectly.We would have no hesitation in returning to Briarfields.

Had a lovely stay. Owners were attentive and very friendly. Comfortable room, mattress wasn’t to our comfort but was ok (we are used to a memory foam). Breakfast was tasty with a good choice. Brilliantly located and good value for money. We would definitely return.

Wow... excellent stay
Have been to Torquay many times, stayed in many hotels. Briarfields is one of the best, cleanest, and well run places we have stayed. On arrival, greeted by the hosts, lovely and clean, room was lovely bright and clean, at first, was a little worried as on main road, but with secondary glazing no noise. Also surprised even had aircon in room, which made stay, even more comfortable. Breakfast, was spot on, ample portions, and lovely clean breakfast room. So lovely and clean and friendly. Great vue, very professional but lovely and welcoming hosts.. just so clean, would book again definitely.. Thank you for a lovely stay. Fully recommend..

One of the best bits of Torquay!
I’m not one for reviews but felt compelled to write one after the incredible stay we had at Briarfields! The moment we pulled up Charlie was there with a big welcome and took our cases up to our room for us. He joked with my 80 year old mum and made her birthday more memorable. Charlie and Julie were so kind to give mum a birthday card too. The hotel itself was so clean, quiet and the service was exemplary plus the room was a lovely size for us both. There was tea and coffee facilities in the room, a mini fridge and air conditioning too! The breakfast…..omg was lush! Fabulous choices and beautifully presented. We didn’t want to leave! Please don’t think twice, stay here you won’t get a better intimate service anywhere else!

BFF - Brilliant Fantastic Find
There are two things you want in a good bed and breakfast; that is a good bed for a good night's sleep and a really tasty breakfast to start your day... The Briarfields delivers both and much much more. The breakfast choices (from light and fruity to full on fry up!) are truly fantastic and delivered with a cheery smile in a beautiful breakfast room and they taste terrific, especially the sausages and the Stornoway black pudding. The rooms are beautifully designed and finished with thoughtful touches like the Harris tweed throws, the colourful animal inspired cushions and the high quality toiletries. The bed and pillows were super comfy.This really is much more than a B&B and you can tell that the owners Charlie and Julie-Anne really know how to deliver the very best hospitality to their guests.I'm excited for our next visit and will be recommending to anyone travelling to Torquay or surrounding area to stay there.

We had a two night stay and the room we stayed in was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The owners are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, we even got given a lovely fruit smoothie with our breakfast and homemade pastries.In our room we also had a fridge which had fresh water, milk and a tray with coffee, tea and biscuits which were replaced every day for us and we also had a coffee machine too.The Briarfields is a lovely place to stay and the owners make you feel very welcome, we will definitely be making another booking in the not too distant future!Thank you both so much!

Fabulous hosts where nothing was too much trouble ! The breakfast choice and quality was as good if not better than any 4 or 5 star hotel! Spotless accommodation, Excellent shower, comfortable bed and good sized room. Location was perfect with only 10 mins stroll down through Abbey Torre gardens to the promenade . No hesitation in recommendingthis as the perfect place to stay. We will certainly stay here on any future trip back to Torbay.

Very enjoyable stay
We enjoyed four days in the Torquay area, staying at Briarfields, in June. The hotel was comfortable, very clean and our room was well equipped. The breakfasts were excellent. My wife described them as the best she had ever had! The hotel was well located, less than a mile from the seafront. I was concerned parking on site may prove a problem, but we always managed to park our car within the spaces provided. We would return. Thank you.

First stay in Torquay
The Briarfields is a lovely bed & Breakfast . It is spotlessly clean and welcoming.The room had good facilities and was comfortable and quiet.The breakfast choice was excellent and freshly cooked by Charlie. It not only tasted first class but the presentation was beautiful. Both Julie-Ann and Charlie were great hosts and continuously asked if we needed anything else.The location was great as it was a straight walk about a mile to the seafront but a long walk if you’re not very mobile you may want to get a bus or taxi.It was a short walk to Torre Abbey which was well preserved worth a look on your way into town. Torquay was lovely and so were the surrounding areas. Plenty of bars and restaurants with an array of ice cream and fudge shops . Great location for sight seeing as only a couple of miles from Paignton and Babacombe with Brixham being about 7 miles away. Definitely worth a visit would go back here again.

Excellent stay and lovely hosts!
We stayed for 3 nights and were blown away by the quality and cleanliness of the property, the exceptional breakfasts, the location and how courteous and accommodating Julie-Anne and Charlie were. They are definitely a dream team and are both extremely friendly. When we got there, Charlie very kindly offered to take our luggage to the room (which my mother was extremely grateful for!) and also gave us a lift to the station after we checked out. Could not have asked for a better stay - we’ll definitely be back if we stay in Torquay again. Thank you both!!

Amazing 4 Night Stay
As I was the first to arrive, I was warmly welcomed by Charlie and Julie, who were so warm and welcoming. Charlie was so kind as to offer to take my suitcase and showed me the rooms. We had Room 6 and 7 at the top of the house which had a double bed and a nice sitting area. The room was spotlessly clean and decorated to taste, with plenty of storage, armchairs, a comfortable bed, tv, AC, a fridge, well stocked tea/coffee tray, hairdryer, towelling robes/slippers and daily water and milk replenishment.The breakfasts were the highlight of our mornings especially Charlie’s comic relief, we had a good amount of options to choose from, especially being a pescatarian I felt catered to.There was sufficient parking bays at the front of the house which made it easy for us as we did not have to worry about leaving the cars when out at night and having to pay extra for parking. The seafront is a stone away and a pleasant walk too.Charlie and Julie are a very hospitable, professional and friendly couple who deserve our 5 star rating.We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend.

3 night birthday staycation
We were warmly welcomed by Charlie and Julie, who are still adhering to COVID rules by wearing masks when greeting guests and when serving breakfast.We had Room 7 at the top of the house which had a double bed and a nice sitting area. The room was spotless with plenty of storage, armchairs to relax in, a comfortable bed, tv, air con, a fridge, well stocked tea/coffee tray, hairdryer and lovely towelling robes/slippers. We had plenty of hot water for our showers and the towels were thick.The breakfasts were excellent, with a good choice.We parked our car in a marked bay on the driveway at the front of the house. It took us 12 minutes to walk to the seafront. This is the first season for the owners but you wouldn’t know, they are a very friendly, professional couple who deserve our 5 star rating. They even left a birthday card in the room when they found out it was my partner’s birthday. We really enjoyed our stay at Briarfields.

We had a lovely stay at Briarfields which is in a great location 10 minutes walk from the seafront. The accommodation was outstanding and spotlessly clean. The choices and standard of breakfast was wonderful, all credit to Charlie. Julie-Ann and Charlie are wonderful hosts who made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They even left us a card and box of fudge in our room on our wedding anniversary which was very sweet of them. We have recently returned from what was supposed to be a 7 night stay turned into 8 nights.We enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to stay on longer and we were lucky that our lovely hosts Julie-Ann and Charlie could accommodate us.There is nothing not to like and this was a little gem of a find.Everything was spotlessly clean and our hosts so welcoming and friendly even lending us their own coop bags to use at the beach!Wonderful choice for breakfast which comprised or quality ingredients and wonderfully presented.Really worth a 6 hour drive and we will certainly return!

I can't decide if we classify as a married couple or mature couple (perhaps a reality check needed!). We couldn't think of a single thing which merited complaint or criticism in any way. A beautiful 5 star Guest House. We stayed in Suite 2 which was just perfect. It has a separate lounge area where we could sit comfortably to watch England play in the Euros semi finals on TV. Lots of thoughtful touches such as a pod coffee machine and fresh milk. The breakfasts are truly outstanding and beautifully presented. We will definitely stay again on our next visit to Torquay.

Charlie and Julie are the perfect hosts. Our suite was so clean and comfy. As was the whole guest house. They are very friendly and brilliant cooks! Breakfast was lovely and what a choice. I would highly recommendthis guest house and if we ever came back would stay there again. It was a shame outbreak was only a few days thank you again

Fabulous stay
We had lovely 3 night stay at the Briarfields.Executive suite was spotlessly clean with good facilities in it.There was a good selection at breakfast time and all very well cooked.Husband especially liked the black pudding and corned beef hash cakes are also excellent.It’s a good 15 mins walk to the harbour through torre gardens.A taxi cost us £5.50 to the harbour if your not up for the stroll.Will definitely revisit next time we are in Torquay.

Our 2nd visit and really enjoyed / stayed in a double room this time which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.Breakfast was amazing both days and the hosts Charlie and Julie Anne are first class.Will definitely stay again ????

FABULOUS
Charlie and Julia-Ann were wonderful hosts. They were extremely accommodating and friendly.A lovely choice of breakfast, all were cooked perfectly.The rooms were clean, comfortable, modern and spacious with air conditioning and luxury complimentary toiletries.There were bottles of water in the room each day with a wonderful selection of coffees, teas biscuits and chocolates.The staff here really couldn’t have done any more to make the guest house comfortable and us feel so welcome.We highly recommend this guest house and will definitely be back!

lovely week
My wife and I have worked right through the lockdown period so it was so nice to get away from it all for a little holiday.We spent a lovely week staying at the Briarfields in Torquay, the hosts Charlie and Julie-Anne made us most welcome from thestart. Off road parking is available (a must in Torquay) and the room was beautifully presented.Being on the top floor our room was very warm and as there was a fault with the air conditioning Julie made sure we had a fan for our use while they had it looked at.The breakfast was not to be missed, a good choice all freshly cooked homemade and sourced locally. Well done Charlie now I've got to go looking for that black pudding.The front is an easy stroll 10/15 away and taxis are good value back.Charlie and Julie-Anne tell me they only took over a few months back, well not a bad start I say long may you continue in your endeavours we shall be sure to return soon.Many thanksRob&Teresa

Midweek Break
We chose the Briarfields based on reviews and location and we were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted by Julie-Anne on arrival and she happily accommodated our request to book an extra night and upgraded us to a suite. The suite was immaculately clean and spacious with the added bonus of air conditioning. Breakfast was amazing, good choices and cooked to perfection by Charlie. We will definitely be back ??????????

Fantastic 2 night stay
What a fabulous place to stay! We were greeted by such welcoming hosts and Briarfields exceeded our expectation. The room was beautiful and tastefully furnished, really appreciated the mini fridge with fresh milk and bottled water. Extensive breakfast menu, cooked to perfection and well presented.

Lovely B+B and great hosts
Had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Briarfields. The room was clean, spacious and really comfortable and the hosts were so helpful and lovely! Our TV wasn't working on the first night and they gave us a new one within the day which was just amazing customer service! Highly recommended

Lovely stay
We have just checked out after a 3 night stay at this lovelyguest house . On arrival we were warmly greeted and directed to our room. We stayed in a double room which was clean, pleasantly decorated with a good size bathroom. All of the complimentary toiletries, tea, coffee etc were restocked daily. The breakfast included in the room price was extremely fresh and well prepared. Our hosts were very tentative and polite. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

Great place to stay
The hotel is walking distance from the harbour and town. The hosts Charlie and Julie-Anne were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a beautiful bedroom which was spotlessly clean and a very comfy bed. The only downside was the signal kept dropping out on the tv but I don’t go away to spend time watching tv anyway.

Superb
We stayed for three nights (26th-29th May 2021) at The Brierfields, and it exceeded our expectations. We were made to feel extremely welcome by Julie Anne on our arrival and throughout our stay.We stayed in room 7, on the third floor, which included an ensuite shower.They were both presented to an extremely high standard and well equipped. The essentials for coffee and tea making with fresh milk was a bonus.Consumable extras were replenished daily.A bountiful breakfast, with plenty of variety was served in a very clean and Covid Safe dining room. The specials were a must, like Charlie’s Scottish Breakfast, which included all the English essentials plus a Scottish Black Pudding, which was wonderful.Thank you again, JulieAnne and Charlie, for this five star plus experience.Hope to be back again soon.

Super Stay
We are frequent visitors to Torquay but this is the first time we have stayed at The Briarfields.It won't be the last as the service was excellent and Charlie made us very welcome.The room was immaculately clean and breakfast was cooked to perfection. After a long lockdown, this was the breath of fresh air we needed in these stressful times.See you again soon.

Our review of Briarfields
A short break after lockdown. We were met by Julie-Ann and shown our Room. We had room 7 and we were very impressed with it. The room was very modern, very clean and well equippted. Tea, coffee, coffee machine, and cold water and milk in the fridge. The shower room was also of a hight standard.Room serviced every day and consumables replenished.Breakfast needs a special mention, it's first class. My wife went throught the menu, her rating was excellent, well done Charlie. Thank you both for a great stay.

Amazing stay
We were warmly welcomed and the accommodation was nice and clean. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. If I have the opportunity to come back to Torquay,I would stay here again.

Both myself and my wife tried to find a hotel in Torbay for a mix of work & leisure and thankfully found Briarfields Hotel. We stayed at Briarfields during the lockdown in Spring 2021 (for essential valid travel) and despite the restrictions Julie-Anne and Charlie were exceptional five star hosts.Adhering to all the guidelines, the rooms are pristine and very comfortably furnished, with the extras and attention to detail which make a stay at this lovely B&B a real treat.Our new hosts only took over Briarfields a few days before we arrived but they gave us the warmest of welcomes and nothing was too much trouble.Chef Charlie was keen to show off his exciting new breakfast menu and quite rightly, the breakfasts are absolutely superb.We wholeheartedly recommend this as a first choice B&B in walking distance of Torquay promenade. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for a great stay.

Lovely weekend away
Booked this lovely place during lockdown so did not know what to expect. Was pleasantly surprised. Extremely professional owners, very Covid aware and organised for all its clientele. Fantastic food, good choice on the menu. Stayed in one of the suites. Full size bedroom and lounge. Lovely bathroom with all amenities provided. Would recommend Briarfields as it was spotless.:-)
